Seattle Mariners: 6 questions ahead of opening day

5. Will Justin Dunn keep his spot in the Seattle Mariners’ rotation?

Both Justin Dunn and Nick Margevicius have shown glimpses of what they are capable of during spring training. However, if truth be told, neither pitcher was particularly impressive.

Dunn ended up winning the job for sixth spot in the rotation, despite having a worse ERA and WHIP compared to Margevicius. The fact the former is a righty played a part, when considering the rotation is dominated by southpaws.

One of the main concerns with Dunn remains his control, as evidenced by a continuing high rate of walks during Cactus League play. With this in mind, the question of if/how long he will remain in the rotation is a prevalent one at this stage.

In this respect, the fact Margevicius will open the season on the active roster as a reliever is important to note. At the very least he should get some spot starts during the year.
