Seahawks place Jake Bobo on IR creating intense battle for back up WR position

A day after fourth-year wide receiver Jake Bobo went down with a serious injury, the team placed him on injured reserve, ending his 2026 season before it began.

Bobo was participating in the Seahawks’ joint practice with the Tennessee Titans when teh unfortunate non-contact injury occurred. The team re-signed Julian Hicks, who was waived by the team during the week after initially signing last weekend.

Undrafted in 2024, Hicks was signed as a free agent by the Packers and spent his rookie season on the practice squad. He briefly signed with Packers on Janaury 6th of 2026 the released on Janauary 20th of 2026 then signed with the Hawks on August 17th

SUNDAY WILL BE A OPPORTUNITY FOR WIDE OUT

The injury to Bobo represents an oportunity for several wide receivers to step up and grab a roster spot. The Seahaws have two preseason games remaining, Sunday at Tennesse and then Friday August 28 at Kansas City. That means it is a matter of two preseason games and several practices for Cody White, Montorie Foster Jr, Emmnauel Henderson Jr, Irv Charles , Ricky White III, Rashad Rochelle and the injured Tory Horton to fight for two maybe three spots behind Rashid Shaheed, Jaxson Smith-Njigba and Cooepr Kupp.

A HEAD OF THE PACK

Before Bobo’s injury Foster was ahead of the pack after his five receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys . A similar performacne against the Titans will cement a roster spot. Ricky White had one reception against the Cowboys and he will be looking to triple that number to stay in the race for a roster spot. While he had one target and no receptions Cody White returned two kickoffs for 34 yards with a 17 yard average . Another strong special teams effort and a couple of catches will keep Cody White in the drivers seat for a roster spot.
