Wide receiver Jake Bobo suffered a season-ending knee injury today during the Seahawks’ joint practice with the Titans in Tennessee. According to reports, Bob jumped to catch a pass and landed awkwardly. The fourth-year receiver was taken off the practice field in a cart. Bobo’s injury was the first topic Macdonald addressed in his post-practice press conference.
Good to see everybody that made the trip. I think, going into today, our goal was to get great work, and I accomplished that goal. It’s an awesome opportunity to have a pretty heavy practice in this heat and humidity. I think they said it’s a bit cooler than it’s been here, which is crazy,’ said Macdonald.
“So we had some guys go down with some cramps and things like that. Overall, great workday. Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo. It seems like it’s going to be a serious knee injury. We’re going to get it imaged. It looks like it’s a long-term injury, so that’s unfortunate.”” The team took a knee after the practice session and said a prayer for Bobo
A CONTRIBUTOR ON AND OFF THE FIELD
This was going to be Bobo’s fourth year with the Hawks. A free-agent signee after the 2023 draft, Bobo has been a significant special-teams contributor. His best season on offense was in his rookie year when he started three games, hauling in 19 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Last year, Obohad had two receptions in teh regular season for 20 yards, but came into the postseason with two receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown. One of the postseason receptions was a 17-yard touchdown catch against the Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
“He’s a beast man. He’s a great football player, a great Seahawk. Hopefully we reflected that in our investment in him. We love him; we’ll be there beside him as he recovers and pray for a speedy recovery. We love him,’ said Macdonald
SEAHASKS WIDE RECEIVER ROOM SUDDENLY THIN
With Bobo’s injury, the Seahawks’ receiving room has suddenly become thin. Next man up at receiver is mostly Montorie Foster Jr who has had an excellent camp. In the Seahawks’ preseason loss to the Cowboys, Foster Jr. had five receptions for 36 yards adn one touchdown and led the team with seven targets. Things looked like they would go from bad to worse when Foster also went down after leaping for a catch.
After practice, Macdonald said that Foster Jr and tackle Abe Lucas had heat-related injuries. Even with a healthy Foster, the Seahawks are thin at wide receiver. Tory Horton has missed the last several practices, and according to Macdonald, he is still working out his stuff. In the mix for a roster spot behind Cooper Kupp, Jaxson Smith- Njigba and Rashid Shaheed are Foster, Emanule Henderson Jr., Ricky White III, and Rshad Rochelle. Look for the Seahawks to try out some wide receivers when they return from Sunday’s preseason game with the Titans.
