Dante Fowler Jr Joins Seahawks: A Veteran’s Role

The Seahawks addressed their last pressing need for the upcoming season by signing former Cowboys edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, multiple sources have confirmed. In last month’s draft, the Seahawks addressed their needs at running back due to the departure of  Ken Walker III to the Chiefs.

The Hawks drafted Jadarian Price.  Safety  Bud Clark was drafted in the second round to replace  Coby Bryant, who signed with the Chicago Bears.  Cornerback Julian  Neal was drafted in the third round to replace  Riq Woolen, who signed with the Eagles.

WELL-TRAVELED VETERAN

The Jacksonville Jaguars signing the 6’3 “, 261 former first-round draft pick from the 2015 draft brings a proven veteran who is familiar with DC Aden Durden and DeMarcus Lawrence.  Fowler missed his entire rookie year due to an ACL tear, then spent the next two and a half seasons with the Jaguars. He was traded to the Rams after the 2017 season.

He spent two years with the Rams and left after the 2019 season. Fowler signed with the Falcons for the 2020-2021 seasons. He signed with the Cowboys for the 2022-2023 seasons, then left for the  Commanders for one season before returning to the Cowboys for the 2025 season.

FAMILIARITY  WITH  DC

Fowler’s signing with the Seahawks will be a reunion with former teammate DeMarcus Lawrence and Defensive Coordinator Aden Durde.  Durde was the Cowboys’ defensive line coach during Fowler’s first stint with the Cowboys.

A twitchy pass rusher who is quick off the ball, Fowler will join a rotation of  Uchenna Nwosu, Lawrence, and Derick Hall. Fowler started 11 of 17 games for the Cowboys last season and recorded three sacks, 15 tackles, four tackles for a loss, 39 pressures, and three pass breakups.
