The Seattle Mariners’ international class of 2025 now has 16 signings, after the addition of three pitchers and outfielder Diago Machado.
Earlier this month, we wrote about the Seattle Mariners signing 12 international players, including two of the top 20 prospects. More specifically, these were outfielder Yorger Bautista of Venezuela at number six, and shortstop Kendry Martinez of the Dominican Republic at number 19.
Now, the Mariners have signed four more international players, as confirmed by Senior Director of International Scouting Frankie Thon Jr.. As per a press release from the club, Thon Jr. said:
“These are four experienced international players, with plenty of exposure to organized competition. This group should hit the ground running once they begin their minor league careers.”
The four international signings are right-handed pitchers Alan Carpinteiro, Po-Chun Lin and Maximo Rodriguez, along with outfielder Diago Machado. Here is some information on the four prospects, courtesy of the Mariners:
- Carpinteiro, 18, 6-foot-1, Mexico – Advanced feel and an easy and balanced delivery. Checks a lot of boxes to potentially be a future starter in the big leagues.
- Lin, 18, 5-foot-11, Taiwan – Strong compact frame and an athletic delivery. His fastball velocity is 90-95, and he was also named MVP of last year’s 18 & under Asia Baseball Championship.
- Rodriguez, 19, 5-foot-11, Mexico – High 80’s to low 90’s velocity and sinks it from a three-quarters slot.
- Machado, 19, 6-foot, Mexico – Left-handed hitting corner outfielder. He has a balanced and disciplined approach at the plate, with consistent contact on a line-drive swing plane.
