Less than a week after announcing the departure of Troy Dannen as the Schools Athletic Director, the University of Washington Athletic Department turned to a familiar face to guide the Athletic Department. The all-too-familiar face is Pat Chun former athletic director at Washington State. A big win for Husky Nation and a gut punch to cross-town Cougar Nation.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel Chun and the UW are working on six year deal. Under Chun Ten Cougar programs made NCAA championship appearances and the Cougars won six Pac-12 Conference Championships. The football team had a string of seven consecutive bowls games, the women’s basketball team won the Pac-12 Championship in 2023 and the men’s basketball team participated in it’s first NCAA tournament since 2008.
Chun arrived at Washington State in January 2018 after holding the same position at Florida Atlantic. Before that Chun spent 15 years as part of the Ohio State Athletic Department. His experience at Ohio State will come in handy as the UW will join the Big Ten next year. Last February Chun was named to the College Football Selection Committee.
