The number of Seahawk players picked to attend this year’s Pro Bowl Games in Orlando has jumped to an even half dozen. Tuesday afternoon when receiver DK Metcalf, quarterback Geno Smith, and special teamer Nick Bellore were added to the NFC squad as injury replacements. The trio will join linebacker Bobby Wagner, cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and safety Julian Love who were initially selected to the Pro Bowl roster.
REPLACEMENTS
Metcalf will be replacing the Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans, while Smith replaces Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Bellore will step in for Lions special teamer Jalen Reeve-Maybin.
This will be Smith’s second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. While it’s their second time being named to the Pro Bowl this year will be the first time Metcalf and Bellore will attend the games. Both players were selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020 which was cancelled due to covid.
DECENT NUMBERS
Metcalf had another stellar year leading the Seahawks with 66 receptions for 1,115 yards and eight touchdowns and averaging a career-best 16.9 yards per reception.
Although he fell short of last year’s number which earned him AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 Smith had a very productive year. Smith finished the season with a pro football reference rating of 92.1, completed 645 of his passes throwing for 3,624 yards and 20 touchdowns, and led five game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in 2023.
Bellore was named of the special teams for a third consecutive year in 2023 and finished second in special teams tackles.
