BREAKING: Seahawks to hire Mike Macdonald as next head coach

The Seattle Seahawks have their new head coach.  The team is expected to hire Baltimore Raven defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald as their new head coach. A twist of irony. In hiring   Macdonald the team now has the youngest coach in the NFL after firing the oldest coach.  Going for a young, creative and innovative coach makes sense when you look at the Seahawk’s young roster.

Cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon  (23,) Tariq Woolen (24), Boye Mafe (25) Derrick Hall (22)  Jordyn Brooks (26) Ucheena Nwosu (27)  and Dre’mont Jones ( 27 ) are all under 28 years old and just beginning to reach their potential as players.

Macdonald has been the Ravens DC the last two years and helped the Ravens become the  first team in NFL history to lead the league in points allowed per game (16.5), sacks (60) and takeaways (31) in the same year. In 2021 Macdonald spent the year as the DC at the University of Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. Before that  Macdonald was with the Ravens from 2014-20 learning ins and outs of building an aggressive innovative defense. He was the linebackers coach from 2018-20, defensive backs coach in 2017  a defensive assistant in 2015-16, and a defensive coaching intern in in 2014. MacDonald  graduated from Georgia and began his coaching career in 2011-13

WHY THIS MAKES SENSE

MacDonald has earned his due despite being just 36 years old, he has learned at every from some of the best minds in the game. All reports point to a bright young mind that believes in winning the battle up from and using disguises to confuse opposing quarterbacks. Mac Donald has done everything right to deserve a head coaching opportunity. Weather it is the right time only time will tell.
