Seahawks Veterans report to OTAs ahead of Mini- Camp

The Seattle Seahawks began their most important week of the offseason NFL draft excluded this week.   Monday marked one week before the team’s mandatory minicamp.  The pleasant surprise for the Seahawks coaching staff was the arrival of the veteran leadership group.  Captains Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner made their way to the VMAC for Monday’s voluntary Organized Team Activities. In total there were 76 players during Monday practice.

The Seahawks were among several teams who had communicated back in April that they would not participate in the voluntary OTAs due to COVID -19 concerns.  The about-turn seems like it was always in the cards.

“Our activities will pick up as we get closer to minicamp,” Carroll said last month. “We expect pretty darn good attendance minicamp. There’s a couple of guys that have some special situations, but for the most part, we expect our guys to be there. The week before is a really important week as well in preparation for it, so we’ll see more guys coming through as we get to the middle of June there.”

PLAYERS DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO GET DOWN TO THE BUSINESS

In all fairness it’s not like the players were sitting around at the their summer dwellings chilling. Most players were participating in individual workouts with other professional athletes with a goal of getting bigger, stronger and faster. All- Pro wide receiver had a break out season last year and after giving track and field a shot he is back   Monday working on this favorite craft.

The Seahawks offense is going to look totally different this upcoming season with new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron at the helm. Two days into the Waldron offense left Metcalf excited about the upcoming season.

“It’s a lot of different kinds of routes that people haven’t seen from either team that he’s coached,” Metcalf said. “So I’m just excited to get to work with him and get to hone in on those other skills.”
