STRONG SECOND HALF
Some spotty defensive play by the Huskies enabled the Utes to narrow the Huskies to just seven points midway through the third quarter at 46-53. The Huskies adjusted their defense and finished the quarter with an 8-0 run that extended the lead to 61-46 after three quarters .
The Utes made another strong run in the fourth quarter narrowing the Huskies lead to just nine points before the Huskies reeled of a 7-0 run that sealed the win. Van Dyke finished with a career 22 points and pulled down six rebounds and dished out four assists.
Miller recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore also had three steals. The win over the Utes was the Huskies best game of the season on both ends of the court. The 73 points were the most points scored since the teams 83-56 win over Portland on December 13th .
Friday was the first time a limited number of family and friends where allowed to attend a Husky game this season. Having the fans in attendance was a difference maker according to head coach Jody Wynn.
“It was fun to hear them,” coach Jody Wynn said of the fans. “I had to turn around one time because I heard them going nuts. I turned around and celebrated with them. “It means so much to our girls.”
