Seahawks Day 12 Training Camp getting down to business

The Seattle Seahawks were all business Monday afternoon as the team prepares for its second preseason game. The Hawks beat the Denver Broncos 22 to 14 last Thursday to open the preseason. With most of the starters sitting or seing limited action next weeks game at Minnesota has everyone itching to show their worth

Monday’s practice was all about the business as the offense continued to shine in the 7-7 drills and 11 on 11. D.K. Metcalf continues to show that only good things are to come . Gary Jennings caught several passes and is making a case for a roster position having caught a TD pass in the Seahawks win over the Broncos.

Safety Tedric Thompson is ready to pick up where he left off last years. After a recording just two tackles in his rookie season,Thompson had a break out year last year recording 52 total tackles 38 of which were solo. Although the Seahawks drafted SS Marquis Blair and FS Ugo Amadi Thompson is ready for the competition.

(On how important it is for a DB to tackle well and be an intimidating presence on the field)

“It’s huge, because as the strong safety and the free safety we usually, especially the free safety, 10 times out of 10 are the last line of defense. Regardless if a play busts or something like that we got to be able to get the guy down, and that’s what Seattle is known for, great tackling safeties; the safeties that were here in the past, the Hall of Famers, Earl [Thomas] and Kam [Chancellor].

Like I said, we just got to keep tackling and keep hitting. When you hit a receiver in the middle of the field that kind of works up a lot of other receivers, so we just got to keep doing the same thing.”
(On if he feels the legacy of the other safeties playing with the team)  “Can I feel it? Yeah, it isn’t ever going anywhere. I don’t think there’s been another DB corps quite like that, or defense in general quite like the ones in the past.

We walk in our DB room now, it’s still all the OG’s up there: Sherm [Richard Sherman], Kam, ET [Earl Thomas], D. Shead [DeShawn Shead]. Their pictures are still all up there, we just want to keep it going.
