Team signs Henry Jordan Jr. to 53-man roster and Dontae McMillan
A day after hosting former Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon for a tryout, the Seahawks made an abrupt turn and signed rookie Jordan Henry Jr. from the Commanders’ practice squad. The moves are part of the Seahawks’ ongoing running back shuffle. On Wednesday, the team announced it had opened the 21-day practice window for running back Zac Charbonnet.
Charbonnet suffered a season-ending knee injury in January during the Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers, who happen to be the team’s opponent this Sunday at Lumen Field. The team also signed Dontae McMillan to the practice squad.
EARLY STRUGGLES
Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has been looking for consistency in the run since day one of the season, and Rookie Jadarian Price has had a promising start. Price had 10 carries for 52 yards in the Seahawks’ season-opening win against the New England Patriots. In game two against the Arizona Cardinals, Price had nearly identical numbers: 13 carries for 52 yards. In the Cardinals game, Price had the first of his two back-to-back fumbles.
SEIZING THE OPPORTUNITY
After coughing up the ball in the Cardinals game, Price repeated the disaster in the Seahawks’ next game against the Commanders. After the game, Price was diagnosed with a shoulder issue that landed him on the injured reserve. With Price on the mend, Emanuel Wilson pounced on the opportunity to be the lead back. In the Cardinals win, Wilson had 21 carries for 94 yards. Wilson’s number dipped in the Hawks loss to the Commanders, with 9 carries for 14 yards.
As a team, the Seahawks had a mere 18 carries for 44 yards. Wilson and the Seahawks’ ground game rebounded against the Chargers. Wilson finished the game with 21 carries, 81 yards, and a touchdown. As a team, the Seahawks finished the day with 138 rushing yards on 33 attempts. Third-year running back George Holanin is also in the rotation and has been used as a third-down screen-catching back. Holani has 22 receptions for 70 yards and seven receptions for 50 yards.
ENTER HENRY JR
The addition of Henry is boast to the team’s running back depth. The Seahawks must believe in Henry if they signed him straight to the 53-man roster. Henry was undrafted in the 2026 draft and was signed as a free agent by the Commanders. Henry had a productive preseason but struggled with pass protection and special teams fumbles. The Commanders released him before the season started and re-signed him to the practice squad.
The Seahawks are convinced they can make Henry a contributor on special teams and in the backfield. McMillan is a former Seattle High graduate who played for Weber State and Eastern Michigan. He went undrafted in 2026 and signed with the Baltimore Ravens before they released him.
