Seahawks and Charles Cross agree to four year contract extension

According to Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks have agreed to a 4-year contract extension. A first-round draft pick (9th overall ) in the 2022 draft, Cross has been a consistent force at left tackle. In his four years, Cross has missed six games due to injury. In 2023, Cross missed three games due to a toe injury.

After playing all 17 games last year Cross has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury. Josh Jones has started the last three games, with the Seahawks earning a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Cross has a good chance of returning for the team’s first playoff game in Lumen Field.

STABILITY UPFRONT

According toOver the Cap, Cross will be the third-highest-paid left tackle in the NFL. Having Cross under contract will ensure some continuity in the Seahawks’ offensive line, which has performed better than expected. Rookie left guard Gray Zabel, Center Jalen Sundell, right guard Anthony Bradford, and right tackle Abraham Lucas have all blossomed under offensive line coach John Benton. Head coach Mike Macdonald praised Cross during his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports.

Despite the absence of Cross, the Seahawks’ offense gained 367 yards in Saturday’s win over the Niners to secure the No. 1 Seed in the NFC West.
