What the Seahawks said after thier weekly press conference

The Seahawks defense was stretched to its limit in the team’s overtime win over the LA Rams. The offense, on the other hand, showed that it can make the clutch play to win a game when needed.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ADEN DURDE

(On what they did to perform well in the fourth quarter despite the high snap count)

“I think it’s a credit to Mike (Macdonald). It’s everything he speaks about. There’s a lot of stuff we have to clean up, but when it’s winning time, you have to show up as much as you possibly can in those moments and create the stops. Really and truthfully, I said to Mike the other day, one of the things that we don’t give enough credit to is the fans. After that return, the place was on fire, and I thought it just gave, the energy was just so high and everyone fed off it and it was so cool.”

(On if it is a mental game when trying to stop a team on fourth down) “

In the game today, I’ve seen it as I’ve been in the league, it’s becoming normal football to more and more people. When it’s normally you used to think about third down, we’re off the field, and time to get ready, but now you’re thinking, ‘Okay, we’re in plus territory, they’re going again.’ It’s not allowing your mind to slip into, ‘Oh yeah, great play.’ It’s just like lots of plays. It’s hard to make two big plays in a row because your emotion is going so up and down, so you’ve got to keep it extremely level.”

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR KLINT KUBIAK

(On the run game) “I was very pleased with it. The guys did a good job. It’s what all parts of our game are trying to improve. I thought there was always a point of emphasis there, but, coming into that game, it was something we were really trying to improve on.”

(On Kenneth Walker III’s touchdown)

“Yeah, that was a big run for us, coming out in the first drive, second half. Well done by him, some big blocks up front. That was big.”

(On what Carolina does well on defense)

“I know coach Ejiro (Evero) really well, have a lot of respect for him, playing against him at the Rams and working with him in Denver. He’s a really bright coach with a really sound scheme. So, we’re focusing on us, but we know we’ve got a good defense coming in.”

(On what he’s seen from Josh Jones in practice)

“That’s what you get paid to do. He’s got to be ready, whether it’s him or Drew Lock, anybody that’s sitting in the weeds waiting for their opportunity. They’ve got to probably work twice as hard because they’ve got to put it in time before and after practice to get their reps in. But he’s a pro, and I thought he did a good job.”
