The Huskies had their Big Ten Media Day in Las Vegas on Wednesday, as they get ready to start the 2025 season. UW was represented at the event by head coach Jedd Fisch, QB Demond Williams, RB Jonah Coleman, and CB Ephesians Prysock. Head coach Jedd Fisch took the podium at 12:30 pm and spoke about his team and what he expects for them in 2025.
Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch talks team mentality
Jedd Fisch emphasized the importance of his team having a professional mentality. The philosophy he has been preaching is to “Be a pro”. He wants his players to act professionally both on and off the field. Coach Fisch wants his players to have an NFL mentality, which he believes will translate to success. He also said he is “incredibly proud” of the players on this team. He added that there are 11 returning starters from last year’s team and only one player left in the transfer portal.
What DC Ryan Walters adds to the coaching staff
When talking about his coaching staff, Jedd Fisch raved about the addition of defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. Coach Fisch noted how each of the teams from last year’s final four of the CFP had a former head coach on their coaching staff. Walters spent the previous two seasons as the head coach at Purdue. Coach Fisch likes what Walters brings to the Huskies’ defense from a schematic and preparation standpoint.
What it will take for the Huskies to make a jump in year two
Jedd Fisch understands the challenges the 2025 season will pose for the Huskies. Acknowledging that his team plays in the toughest conference with one of the toughest schedules. Despite the difficult schedule, coach Fisch has high hopes for the Huskies in 2025. Emphasizing his starting quarterback, running back, and top wide receiver from a year ago, are returning. Coach Fisch also likes what he sees from the offensive line group. The Huskies’ success in 2025 will depend on how fast that group of returning starting tackles, transfers, and freshmen jell together.
