SAN FRANCISCO – Skylar Diggins scored 18 points, but the Seattle Storm fell to the Golden State Valkyries on Sunday night inside the Chase Center, 84-57.
Erica Wheeler added 13 points, and Zia Cooke had a season-high 10 off the bench for Seattle.
The Valkyries led all the way after scoring the game’s first seven points. Seattle got within five midway through the second quarter when the defense held the Valkyries to just 11 points on 25% (4-for-16) shooting from the field, the lowest scoring quarter of any Storm opponents this season. The Storm was still within seven at halftime, 34-27. The Valkyries continued their lead in the second half and ran away in the fourth quarter.
Diggins dished six assists for Seattle. Nneka Ogwumike had a team-leading seven rebounds.
Tiffany Hayes led Golden State with 21 points.

STORY OF THE GAME: After an early run by Golden State, Skylar Diggins scored eight consecutive Storm points and Seattle cut the deficit to single digits to end the first quarter. Seattle’s defense turned it up in the second quarter, holding the Valkyries to just 11 points on 25% (4-for-16) shooting from the field and zero three-pointers. The Storm fell behind in the second half but battled on the boards in the fourth and managed to match the team’s season high for offensive rebounds in a single quarter with five. Golden State held on for the 84-57 win.

Diggins shot 83.3% (5-for-6) from the free-throw line to become the fourth player in Storm franchise history to record 10 consecutive games with at least three free throws made. This marks Diggins’s third game of at least 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists with the Storm, which ranks fifth in franchise history. She also reached 18 points and six assists for the 70th time in her career, which is the second-most such games in WNBA history.
· Erica Wheeler posted 13 points with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal while knocking down three three-pointers. Wheeler made a three-pointer for the sixth consecutive game, matching her longest career streak of games with at least one made three-pointer, and this also marks Wheeler’s third consecutive game with multiple three-pointers, her longest streak of games with multiple made threes since 2019.
· Zia Cooke scored a season-high 10 points, her highest-scoring game in a Storm uniform, and set her season high with three rebounds. Cooke added a steal along with a pair of three-pointers, and this marks her first time making a three-pointer in consecutive games since July 2024.
· Nneka Ogwumike scored eight points and led all players with seven rebounds in the first half.
· Ezi Magbegor added two points, six rebounds, and two assists along with a pair of blocks. Magbegor has recorded multiple blocks in 86 games with the Storm, which is the 12th-most multi-block games by any player with a single franchise in WNBA history.
· Gabby Williams scored two points and grabbed four rebounds with three steals and a block. Williams leads the WNBA with 13 multi-steal games so far this season and recorded 10 blocks in a single season for the second time in her career.
