The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly signed Shaquill Griffin to a one-year, $ 3 million deal that can climb to $ 4 million. Bringing back Griffin will add some depth to the Seahawks’ defensive backfield. Griffin was drafted in the third round by the Seahawks in the 2017 NFL Draft and spent four years with the Team, starting 53 games.
MOVING ON
In 2019, Griffin made the Pro Bowl and left in 2020 as a free agent. He signed a three-year $40 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. A back injury limited him to just 19 games in his first two seasons with the Jaguars. The Jaguars released him in 2023, and he spent time with the Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers before signing a one-year, $4.55 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2024 season.
CONSISTENT CONTRIBUTOR
Griffin appeared in all 17 games with the Vikings and started three games. Griffin played a total of 572 snaps with the Vikings. Over eight NFL seasons, Griffin has played in 106 games, recording nine interceptions and 70 passes defended. Look for Griffin to compete with Josh Jobe for the number three cornerback spot behind Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen.
