Before he starred at Ohio State for the Buckeyes, Emeka Egbuka started his football career locally at Steilacoom High School. While at Steilacoom, Egbuka helped the Sentinels to the 2A Washington State Football Championship game in 2019. Egbuka was a five-star wide receiving prospect coming out of high school. He had several offers from colleges to play football, and chose to play his college ball at Ohio State University.
Egbuka’s career at Ohio State
When Egbuka went to college, he became one of the best wide receivers in the country. His sophomore year would be a breakout season for him, as he had 74 catches for 1,151 yards. Helping Ohio State reach the College Football Playoff. As a senior, Egbuka was second on the team in receiving with 81 catches for 1,011 yards, and finished his career with 205 catches (the most in Ohio State history). During Ohio State’s College Football Playoff run, Egbuka had 21 catches for 268 yards and a touchdown in four playoff games, as the Buckeyes won the National Championship.
NFL Draft Projection
Currently, Emeka Egbuka is projected to be a potential first round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His productivity at Ohio State and professionalism has NFL scouts impressed. Egbuka could go as high as the middle of the first round, with an early second round floor. Teams who would be the most interested in Egbuka include the Packers and Chargers who missed out on the D.K. Metcalf sweepstakes.
Are the Seahawks in play for Emeka Egbuka?
Considering the Seahawks just signed wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Seattle is going to have other draft priorities. Which include continuing to rebuild their defense and offensive line. The Seahawks also have more day two selections which they can use to replace receivers Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, rather than use a first round pick on Egbuka. Since Seattle is has other priorities on day one, there is a good chance Emeka Egbuka will land elsewhere. Wherever Egbuka does end up, his future in the NFL is bright.
