Husky Women cruise past Wiscon 79-58 earn fifth straigh win

On Girly Pop Night inside Alaska Airlines Arena, the Washington women’s basketball team saw contributions from everyone as the Huskies picked up their first Big Ten win of 2025, defeating Wisconsin (10-6, 1-4 Big Ten).

Washington (12-4, 3-1 Big Ten) enjoyed a balanced scoring effort, with four players finishing in double digits.

Elle Ladine led the Huskies with her fourth 20-point game of the season, finishing with a game-high 23 points (9-of-17 shooting) to go along with two rebounds and three assists.

Sayvia Sellers did a little bit of everything for UW, notching 16 points, including her 500^th career point, a season-high nine assists, and six rebounds. The sophomore has recorded 24 assists in her last three games.

Dalayah Daniels had her third straight double-double, pouring in 17 points and 11 rebounds, becoming the first Husky since Hannah Johnson in 2018 to record three consecutive double-doubles.

Tayra Eke nearly had a double-double of her own with 14 and eight, finishing the night 7-of-12 shooting, her third 10+ point game of the year.

Both teams got off to a slow start on the offensive end, with Wisconsin jumping out to a six-point lead late in the first to conclude the quarter up 17-11.

The Huskies turned the tables right back, outscoring Wisconsin 20-8 in the second frame, flipping a six-point deficit into a six-point lead as Washington went up 31-25 at the half.

Wisconsin’s 25 first half points were its second fewest of the season in a half.

Sellers and Daniels had reached double-digits by halftime, including Sellers notching her 500^th career point as she came off a screen from Daniels to finish strong on the right side and draw the foul.

The Huskies exploded offensively in the last 20 minutes of action, as Washington shot 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from the field and 60 percent (6-of-10) from three in the second half.

Washington outrebounded the Badgers 43-32 and dominated in the paint 44-20.

The Dawgs improved to 9-2 at home and 3-1 in conference play.

The Huskies hit the road again to take on Michigan State (Jan. 12) and Michigan (Jan. 15) before returning home for Kelsey’s Plum’s jersey retirement on Saturday, January 18 versus Purdue.
