If there is one thing the Seattle Kraken is capable of this early season is scoring. The team’s ability to score saw the team erase an early 2-1 first-period deficit with four consecutive goals in the second period to take a 5-2 lead into the final period.
The Kraken received goals from six players, showing their scoring punch’s diversity and depth. Brandon Montour’s lone goal in the first period put the home side in striking distance after the Flyer’s Scott Laughton registered a first-period brace.
EXPLOSIVE SECOND PERIOD
The Kraken took what looked to be a decisive lead in the second period with four goals from Jared McCann, Eli Tolvanen, Jordan Eberle, and Shane Wright to take the 5-2 after two periods. The Flyers made a game of it midway in the third quarter when Cam York and Jamie Drysdale scored within two minutes of each other to cause some worry for the fans. The Kraken remained steadfast, returned to their scoring ways, and secured the victory with a decisive goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand. For McCann, the Kraken have enough talent to consistently score.
“I think when you have everybody going like we did tonight – the last couple of nights have been good – we’ve just got to be consistent with it,” McCann said after his tying second-period slap shot goal ignited the latest Kraken scoring outburst and saw him add a pair of assists before it was done. “We’re not going to score six or seven goals every single game, but I think we can do a better job of just focusing and keeping the puck out of our net.”
