SOCCER MECCA

With Lumen Field set to host six matches during next summer’s FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and another six matches during the FIFA World Cup in 2026, Seattle is poised to be a mecca for International soccer. During his whirlwind visit, Infantino visited Lumen Field and the Providence Swedish Performance Center & Club House. While visiting the Sounders FC  and Reign FC  Headquarters, Infantino observed a Sounder FC training session.

SOUNDERS SUCCESS BROUGHT ATTENTION

Seattle’s landscape and a commitment to its history and culture by elected officials and community leaders were all part of the reasons the Emerald City was picked to host two of the biggest tournaments in the world. Another reason for Seattle getting selected for the tournaments was the Sounders’ success. In 2022, the Sounders historic 2022 Concacaf Champions Cup title run saw them become the first American side to participate in the FIFA World Cup tournament that was played in Morroco a year later due to the pandemic. The Sounders Two MLS titles, four US Open Cup titles, and one Supporters Shield Cup are examples of the Club’s commitment to winning for its fan base.

NEXT STEPS

For the  SeattleFWC2026, Sounders FC, Reign FC, and the elected officials will ensure that the teams and fans attending the matches have a safe, vibrant, fun, and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
