The Seattle Storm completed a trade with the Washington Mystics, acquiring the Mystics’ third-round pick in the 2025 draft in exchange for guard Jade Melbourne. The deal puts the Storm one step closer to meeting the league’s financial guidelines. The next step for the Storm will be to finalize the personnel roster by Monday’s league-imposed deadline. The move to trade Melbourne opens the door for rookie Nuka Muhl to make the team.
Melbourne, who the Storm originally drafted in the third round of the 2022 WNBA draft, played in 29 games as a rookie in 2023, averaging 2.6 points, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game. She scored a season-high 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting while adding a season-best five rebounds and a block against Los Angeles on June 3.
The 2025 draft pick becomes the Storm’s fourth of the draft with Seattle now holding a pick in the first round, one in the second, and a pair of third-round selections.
