Seahawks re-sign Frank Clark  after season-ending injury to Uchenna Nwosu

After losing one of their most productive defensive players in the last season and half with a season-ending injury the Seahawks turned to a familiar face for help.

With Uchenna Nwosu scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on a torn pectoral muscle, the team announced it had re-signed  Frank Clark.  The hole left by Nwosu will be hard to fill for the team.  Nwosu signed with the team prior to 2022 as a free agent and led the team with a career-high 26 quarterback its ( T9th NFL) and tied Darrell Taylor for the team lead with a career-high 9.5 sacks.

“He’s one of the real pillars of this thing and it’s going to be hard to not have him. He has a great voice, and they listen to him. He doesn’t say a lot, but when he does, he’s strong and firm; that’s leadership”. Said head coach  Pete Carroll during his weekly  Monday press conference “ We’re going to miss that. There’s really no way to replace that, he’s too unique, other guys will have to add what they can bring. We’re going to really miss Chenna (Nwosu)”.

Nwosu was on his way to having another season before the injury, forcing a fumble in the win over Detroit and recording a career-high tying two sacks against the New York Giants. As for his replacement, Carroll said the team would bring in former Seahawk Frank Clark to be part of the outside linebacker rotation.

“Right now, we’re just bringing him in to be an edge rusher for us and see if he can get in the four-guy rotation that we’ve been having. We’ve really liked how that’s worked out. We’re going to see if we can maintain that and see how it goes. See how it fits together and what it looks like.”

Clark was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round ( 63rd overall) during the 2015 draft and spent the next four years as a Seahawks before moving on to Kansas City from 2019- 2022. The Broncos signed Clark prior to the 2023 season and released him after six games. Clark played in two games for the Broncos and recorded two sacks.
