The Seahawks ten drafted rookies were joined by 60 free agents when they hit the V Mac practice field Friday afternoon. The 90 minute practice was the first step in the players making thier dream of becoming an NFL player come true. The reality is for many that dream will not come true. For the Seahawks ten draftees Friday was the beginning of their journey.
CAUTIOUS START
The teams top two draft picks Devon Witherspoon and Jaxson Smith-Njigba was limited action due to past hamstring issues according to head coach Pete Carroll. Teams will always err on the side of caution when it comes to early season workouts.
Both guys had hamstring issues in the offseason,” Carroll said. “And so we just want to make sure we know where they are, so we don’t want to go too far, too fast. There’s no reason to at this point because they can still get all the learning done. There’s a lot of walk-through plays that we go through in this process so they can get the learning and see what’s going on.”
The two were active during the practice asking coaches questions and participating in light walkthroughs.
