The Seahawks began practicing for next Monday’s Nationally televised home opener against the Russell Wilson-led Denver Broncos. If you have not already heard the Seahawks will be wearing their Action Green uniforms for the game. In case you are wondering the Seahawk’s record in the Action Green uni’s is 4-1.
As for the emotional reunion with Wilson and how the team plans to prepare, Carroll was quick to point out during his weekly press that the team has been preparing for a long time.
“Well, I had different reactions, two different reactions. When I realized that this was the opener in time, I thought it was awesome. Seeing how it does exactly what I’m saying, this is a great challenge for us to stay focused and be on it for all the national things. Playing on Monday night is huge for in particular young guys. They’ve been watching Monday Night Football for their whole young life and now they have to go ahead and perform under the circumstances. So, we are very fortunate to be playing in this setting and hopefully we’ll learn. The lessons will be there for us to take with us the rest of the season.”
With the opener just seven days away Carroll was asked where he believes his team is emotionally and physically.
“I feel like how everybody else feels. Very hopeful and excited about it and see nothing but good stuff happens. And we have to go prepare like it and make sure we are ready and go perform like it. I’m really excited about this team. I love them, the makeup. I love the way they have come together from way back when. I love the leadership, I love the speed, I love our style in all aspects. And now we need to go out and show it. And live up to what the expectations are. My expectations are very high.”
CAPTAINS FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON
One box that was checked during Monday’s practice was the announcement of team captains for the upcoming season.
Today, we selected captains . Our guys voted for that and chose those. Tyler Lockett is going to be the captain on offense. It’s beautiful recognition for a guy that has always been a leader in this program and has always been at the front of it. He has the wisdom, and they really recognize it and listen to him. On defense, Quandre Diggs, a guy that’s been a leader in this program, again, the same thing. He has been part of it, has a big voice, big character, and is a terrific football player that guys look up to. Speaking of looking up to in a big way, Al Woods, upfront. He really brings all of the voice, the stature, the work habits, and the work ethic that you want to lead. Those are great choices there. We returned Nick Bellore on special teams, just an obvious pick. He’s just everything to everybody in his playmaking, style, mentality, and all of that, so it was a really nice job of guys figuring it out and picking those guys.”
ROSTER MOVES
The team announced two roster moves on Monday. Outside linebacker Joshua Onujiogu, an undrafted rookie who made the Seahawk’s initial 53-man roster before being waived a day later, is back with the team having signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers. The Seahawks also signed defensive end Jabari Zuniga, a 2020 third-round pick.

NOTABLE QUOTES FROM MONDAYS PRESSER
On the status of Kenneth Walker III)
“He was working some today. He is running, catching some balls, and doing stuff. We will see what happens. This is an injury that is unpredictable in the recovery, he is doing pretty well though. He has to be able to tolerate it. Fortunately, we are playing Monday night, so we will have an extra day, and we will see.”
On his message to the rookies who will start
“Yes, we are dealing with them and we’re making it known to them on what we expect and what we’ve learned over the years and how to help guys keep things in the proper perspective. This is performance, and performance get affected by stuff. And so, we want to make sure that we have covered everything that will help us stay clear and poised and at our best. And so that’s why it’s a fantastic challenge. This is as good as you get. Playing after everybody else has played on the weekend and all that, it’s a blast. I really like the challenges and the teaching part of it and the mentality of it and communicating with the guys and making sure we touch all the bases and get it done for them, so we can help them out.”
On if Sidney Jones IV will start against Denver)
“You will have to wait and see.”
(On how they will approach going against a familiar face in Russell Wilson)
“I hope I do a really good job. I do have as much as information as you could have, I probably haven’t known a player any closer than knowing Russ (Wilson), his quarterback play, his mentality, and all of that. He knows me too, he knows us. We will see what happens.”
