Injury Report and Questions to Ask going into Seahawks vs the Titans

PETE CARROLL TRANSCRIPT

(Opening Statement)

“Wrapping up this part of the week and feeling good about it. There’ll be some questions that you will ask about guys getting healthy for the weekend. It’s been good preparation, good hard focus on this team. This team has got a real style about them. It all begins with that running back and their running game and all the rest. It’s a good matchup for us. It’s going to help us during the course of the season because we have to get ready for a great running game. We’ll see how we do.”

(On Damien Lewis) “

He just had a little something that we had to check out. He practiced today.”

(On if D.J. Reed issue showed during the game)

“No, it showed up during the week. He practiced today. We’re in pretty good shape there.”

(On how Damien Lewis looks for Sunday)

“He’s looking good. Questionable chances. He’s looking good. He had a good practice today.”

(On how he prepares his team to play teams that didn’t play well the week before)

“No more than we’re expecting them to be champions just like they are and to play like it. I’m not spending any time on what their mentality might be other than they’re at their best. That’s just the way we do it.”

(On if that factors into his approach of everyone being treated the same)

“Yes, it does.”

(On if he’s talked to Russell Wilson on the passing of Trevor Mowoad)

“We have talked about it quite a bit. We had an open discussion about it throughout the week.”

(On the cornerback group)

“It’s a real competition for these guys, and they’re battling. Every rep counts for us to try to evaluate the new guys. We’re trying to be as open-minded and as receptive as possible and see as much as we can. We asked them to really go for it during the week and really take advantage of their opportunities where they are and where their football is. Also, to show us how they understand what we’re asking of them. It’s a good part of it. These guys have to battle during the week as well. They have their own personal battles as well as game prep.”

(On the passing of Trevor Moawad)

“Trevor (Moawad) has been a long-time associate of Russell (Wilson), had been a great friend, and a great confidant. It means a lot. Throughout the course of the season, with all of the families that follow us, there are so many things that we deal with. It’s really just regular life that is what it amounts to, and our guys have to find a way to put it in the right perspective. We have a baby being born today, there’s just stuff happening all of the time. It’s really important that we do discuss our situations, be open about it, and listen mostly to the guys about whatever is going on. That’s basically what I’ve been doing, I listened to what Russ (Wilson) had to share.”

(On building relationships with the players)

“If you really care about the people in the program that you are dealing then you are open to whatever you need to be available for. I think it’s being true to that relationship. I didn’t always know how important it was to care, I was just doing what I was doing. I realized that it is a big part of this and that’s why the relationships are important, deep, and meaningful. When you go there, then you can handle anything.”

(On when he realized relationships were important)

“I think coming out of New England was a big change for me. When I got the opportunity to be in control of the program at USC is when most of everything blossomed in terms of approach, philosophy, being true to who you are, and authenticity. Maybe that would be the marker you are looking for.”

(On the status of Bryan Mone)

“He’s really chomping at the bit to play. We will see how he does.”
