The Seahawks continued their roster moves with the placement of tight end Colby Parkinson, rookie cornerback Tre Brown and cornerback Nige Warrior on the team’s injured reserve list. According to NFL guidelines, players placed on IR can return after missing three games.
The three vacated roster positions were filled by receiver Penny Hart, cornerbacks John Reid and Blessuan Austin. Hart and Reid were moved up from the practice squad while Austin was a free agent signee. Reid was acquired in a deal with Houston last month and adds depth to the defensive backfield that has undergone some shuffling and is depleted due to injuries. Recent free-agent pickup Sidney Jones is getting acclimatized to the defensive system. Last week it was announced that D.J. Reed will shift from right cornerback to left after overcoming injuries.
SPECIAL TEAMS CONTRIBUTOR
Hart was targeted three times and had one reception for 11 yards in the Seahawks preseason finale against the Charges. Last season the third-year wideout from Georgia State saw action in 13 games as a backup receiver and special teams contributor.
PRACTICE SQUAD SHUFFLE
Tight end Mark Vital was released from the practice squad and his open position was filled when the team signed Gavin Heslop. Earlier this week the Seahawks re-signed guard Jordan Simmons to the practice squad. Simmons started six games last year and appeared in 14 contests.
