Quick impressions from Saturday Husky football scrimmage

After six practice sessions, the Huskies held their first modified scrimmage on the seventh practice in front of 600 sun-bleached Husky fans. The modified scrimmage started last the first six practices with playing working on individual unit drills followed offensive and defensive team drills. The deviation from the norm was the offensive and defensive competition started with the team starting on the defenses 45-yard line.  Points were kept and action inside the red zone was live.  Here are some quick impressions

WHO DID NOT PARTICIPATE

Head coach Jimmy Lake has warned that players missing practice can be due to a number of reasons. Like every good coach Lake is protective of his players. With that having said here is a list of the players who did not take part in Saturday’s practice.

Junior outside linebacker Zion Tupuola-Fetui tweaked his ankle left ankle during Friday‚Äôs practice. His absence on Saturday could be merely precautionary. Only time will tell the severity of the injury. Junior cornerback Trent McDuffie participated in the individual’s drills but sat out the scrimmage.  Other non-participants during Saturday’s scrimmage were tight tackle Victor Curne, tight end Mason West, guard Gaard Memmelaar, and safety Alex Cook.
