Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was jovial, optimistic, and encouraged about his teams 37-27 win over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night at CenturyLink Field. The jovialness stemmed from his team bouncing back after suffering its first loss to the Arizona Cardinals the previous week. The optimism stemmed from the defense holding one of the leagues top rushing teams to just 116 total yards after three quarters. The encouragement was winning despite multiple starters. Here is what Carroll had to say during his weekly call with the media.
JAMAL ADAMS RETURN
If the Seahawks defense is to continue to improve from its league-worst defensive ranking it will need the services of Strong Safety Jamal Adams. The Pro Bowl safety has missed the last four games due to a groin injury and looks ready to return this week.
RUNNING BACK SITUATION STILL MURKY
Rookie running back DeeJay Dallas earned his first NFL and did not disappoint while filling in for Chris Carson (midfoot sprain) and Carlos Hyde (hamstring). Dallas scored two touchdowns one running and the other a two-yard pass reception in the third quarter. The rookie showed his versatility finishing the day with 41 yards on 18 carries and five catches for 17yards. On Monday Carroll said he walked away from Sunday’s game knowing the team could win with Dallas at running back. The return of Carson and Hyde still looks murky and uncertain until weeks end according to Carroll.
CHRIS CARSON
“Chris, he’s got he’s got a sore foot that’s getting better and feeling better,” Carroll said. “We’re talking right now that we’ll take a look at him on Friday and see how he handles it, and how he feels Saturday after he runs on it on Friday. That’s what we’re shooting for. If he’s got a chance to play, we’ll know a whole lot more then. We don’t know yet.”
CARLOS HYDE
After sitting out Sundays game it is highly unlikely Hyde will return this Sunday to face the Buffalo Bills.
“Carlos has got a hamstring he’s trying to come back from. It’s hard to get that done in a couple week’s time, so we’ll see.”
