Husky Head Coach Jimmy Lake, “ The Cream Will Rise to The Top”

The messaging from the new Husky regime led by first year head coach Jimmy Lake is clear and consistent. The program will be physical, aggressive and finish games. The process to accomplish the  goals is meticulous preparation by the coaching staff and players.

During Fridays  Zoom call with local media Husky head coach Jimmy Lake  was asked the weekly  question , “ who is your starting quarterback coach? With  two weeks until the Nov 7th  Lake  pointed out  that the process will determine the  starting quarterback  or quarterbacks.

OFFENSIVE LINE DEPTH

The cream rises to the top mentality creates  heated  competition which in turn  creates depth. Given the uncertainty nature of injuries in football and the  ever lurking danger of the  Covid-19  Lake and his staff are taking extra  precautions  to ensure depth at all positions.

A lot has been made about the Huskies young talented receives who are ready have a break season.  Senior Cornerback Elijah Molden, wide receiver Terrell Bynum and Trent McDuffie have all commented on the depth and talent of the receivers unit. While he  concurred with the glowing reviews, Lake was quick to give the  best wr hands award to  Puka Nacua

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

The decision by the Pac-12 to stick to a Conference only schedule created a void for all of the conference teams. Historically non-conference schedule games have  served as preseason games. To fill the void Lake and his staff schedule four in house preseason games complete with referees and the coin. The third game is scheduled for  this Saturday and the last one next week.

“ It’s important that our players get used to playing in game like condition ,” said Lake. “ We want to be prepared to the last detail on and off the field.”
