The business end of soccer is winding down with the playoffs just around the bend. To say teams are jockeying for playoff spots would be, well an understatement. Points earned or lost in each of the remaining contest will determine where teams finish in the playoff seedings and have a significant impact on how long of playoff run teams will make.
The converted home field advantage can be the difference between a one and done and a long run to the title game. The Seattle Sounders (14-11-5, 47points) currently occupy the fifth playoff spot in the Western Conference. Real Salt Lake ( 13-7-13, 46 points) occupies the sixth and final playoff spot. The Sounders will host the Houston Dynamo ( 9-8-13, 35points) on a rare Monday night ( 7:30 pm PST) MLS match and will be looking to solidify their playoff positioning.
The Sounders are coming off an impressive 4-0 home win over the Colorado Rapids and while the dynamos are in 10th place, they have won three straight and are looking to continue to their razor-thin playoff chances with a win over the Sounders.
