Sounders Morris and Roldan called up for USMNT January training camp.

Seattle Sounders FC  buddies , teammates and  franchise cornerstones Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan were called up by interim USMNT head coach  Dave Sarachan to take part in the National teams Winter Camp which begins  January 10th and leads up to the squad’s  game vs Bosnia and Herzegovina  on Friday January 28 at the StubHub Center( 9:30 p.m.)

For the 23-year-old Morris, the call-up will be his 24th international cap for the USMNT. The Mercer Island native has five goals for the squad and scored three goals this past year at the 2017 CONCACAF  Gold Cup. Morris scored the game-winner against  Jamaica in the final and helped the USMNT earned its sixth Gold Cup.

Morris is coming off an injury and was able to play in the Sounders 2-0 loss to Toronto FC in the MLS Cup and will need to show he is fully healed and has regained his speed.

For the 22-year-old Roldan, the January Camp will be his second call-up with the USMNT.  The former University of Washington Husky player received his first international cap this past summer at the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting and playing in a 3-2 win over Martinique in the Group Stage of the Tournament.

Roldan will need to show his creativity with the ball if he is to receive more call ups. Roldan is a speedy play who plays more of a defensive holding midfielder when  he is playing with the Sounders. Roldan has shown creativity, speed and a decent shot on the occassin  Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer has started him up the field.

Roldan was voted 2017 Sounders FC Team MVP after scoring a career-high six goals in 33 regular-season starts, in addition to leading MLS with 90 tackles won and 229 duels won.
