Cal Raleigh Shines in Return: Mariners Beat Orioles 3-1

It took just one game for Cal Raleigh to make an impact 33 days after landing on the Mariners injured reserve list. Raleigh hit a go ahead wo run single in the bottom of the seven innning to power the Mariners to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park. It is fair to say Raleigh has full recovered from the right oblique strain that landed him on the Injured list for the first time in his MLB career.

TIMELY HIT
With the bases loaded and one out Raleigh stepped into the plate and faced Baltimore reliever Grant Wolfram. Raleigh drove Wolfram’s sinker into center left field to bring home Victor Robles and Colt Emerson.


“Just a great at-bat from Cal,” Mariners manager Dan Wilson said. “And very fitting, to have him back today and get the big, game-winning knock.”

ANOTHER VETERAN RETURN

Raleigh was not the only veteran to make on Tuesdays. J. P Crawford returned after a 10 day stint on the list after suffering a right hand contusion. Crawford was hit on the hand on June 5th by Detroit Tigers pitcher Framber Valdez . In additon to his return Crawford made a position switch from shortstop to third base to make way for Colt Emerson. The move from shortstop to third base is a move Crawford worked on during his rehab stint. Earlier in season Crawford told the Mariners he would happpily make the position and finish his MLB career as Mariner and give the Mariners top prospect the playing time he needed
