After their All- Star catcher was scratched from Saturday night’s game two with the Kansas City Royals, the Mariners gave an update. Mum was the word after Raleigh’s absence from the lineup.
VAGUE UPDATE BETTER THAN NO UPDATE
Before Sunday’s series finale with the Royals, Mariners skipper Dan Wilson gave an update on well sort.
“Cal is continuing to to make strides,” Wilson said. “He’s got a little soreness in the side. We’ll continue to look at it day to day and go from there and continue to assess it.”
After Wilson’s pregame session with the media, Raleigh shed more light on his mysterious illness
“I just kind of felt it postgame Friday night, and didn’t really think too much of it,” he said. “It’s normal. Things happen in games throughout the season, but I woke up the next day, and it stayed sore, and I let the staff know. I was just trying to play it safe.”
Another precautionary measure taken by the team was for Raleigh to undergo an MRI. The patience is now waiting for the results from the procedure.
“As an athlete you use your core a lot, just obviously rotating stuff,” he said. “It was just a little sore, and I think they’re just trying to be precautious with it, play it safe, rather than let things linger.”
INJURY WOES
While he has never been placed on the ten-day disabled list, that could now be an option pending the MRI results. The Mariners announced that they claimed LHP Jose Suarez off waivers from the Atlanta Braves after OF Rhylan Thomas was designated for assignment.
