Seahawks Draft Emmanuel Henderson: Special Teams Prospects

After trading down from 188 to 199, the Seahawks drafted Kansas wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson.  With the Seahawks solid at wide receiver, Henderson is sure to be a special teams contributor. After three years at Alabama-Hendrix, Henderson finished his college career at Kansas, where he returned kicks and covered punters.

“ You know, there were more opportunities, and I took advantage of them,’ said Henderson on his move to  Kansas. I felt like, uh, it was an open door and, you know,  they just allowed me to showcase what I can do.”

He has the rare distinction of returning a kickoff and covering a punt in the same game. Henderson had several meetings with the Seahawks, and he mentioned that in both instances, special teams and wide receiver contributions were discussed. The former Jayhawks was recruited by Alabama as a running back.

Yes sir, most definitely. I’ve played most of the positions during my time at Kansas. I would play in the backfield sometimes. Wherever I can get the ball in my hands, I feel like I can get the job done,’ said Henderson.
