The Seahawks are looking to Sunday’s game with the Tennessee Titans as a bounce-back game. After last Sunday’s 21-19 loss to the Rams, Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and defensive coordinator Aden Durde have their sights on the Titans.
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR KLINT KUBIAK
(On how Sam Darnold has bounced back from Sunday’s game against the Rams)
“I think that’s why he’s had such a really good season, because he’s the same guy every day. Whether it’s having success or it’s not going as good, he’s always the same. He’s really impressive on the sideline and ready to move on. That’s why he is who he is, and that’s how most great quarterbacks are, they just stay the same.”
(On having 12 turnovers over the last four games)
“Back up to a couple games ago, struggled, interceptions, game after that, bad play selection, bad execution, just things you can’t do and win. Our defense has been playing great, and a game like the last one, where you have four turnovers, normally not that close, but our guys did a great job of fighting back all the way to the end and gave us a chance to win. I also think when the bad stuff happens things can go one of two ways, and I thought our guys really responded well, so I was very pleased with that.”
(On Grey Zabel’s toughness)
“Yeah, Grey’s (Zabel) a little gangster, he’s tough. See him on the sideline after the game, you see the look in his eye, you ask him how he’s doing, and you can just tell the way he looks at you, the way he talks to you, that he’s going to get back as soon as he can. That’s been something impressive from him all along, and obviously something that’s been developed into him since a very young age, and we’re really lucky to have that on our offense.”
(On Coby Bryant’s ability to respond in tough situations)
“I think it’s just NFL football. You have to limit errors and keep pushing, but I think Coby’s (Bryant) a savage competitor. He wants to make every play, and sometimes you do in this league, and sometimes that guy does. You have to reboot and go again, and I think he does a great job of that. That’s just NFL football.
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ADEN DURDE
(On the first thing they focused on after getting back to practice this week)
“The way the week goes is that you come back on Monday, you review the game, the guys work off, not with football. You can’t do too much to try and win a game. I thought the guys played their heart out. They pushed the limits of the way they played. We didn’t start the way we wanted to start. But I think in those terms, you’ve just got to keep pushing to do the ordinary things extraordinary, and that’s what we talked about. In those games, they made more plays on the ball than we did, and that’s the game. In those situations, you just have to keep coming back, and then yesterday, we came back and it’s about hitting it, going to get it, and having elite communication, elite execution and keep pushing through the week for the next game.”
(On what improved on the run defense during the last couple of drives)
“One of them was just a fit that you just have to fix. It’s about coming off a sideline adjustment, and that’s really it. There was a situational run on short yardage, and you’ve got to clean those things up and play with fundamentals against a team like that. They’re a very good running team that has a patient back that can find the crease. You don’t play fit ball. You don’t say you’ve got to be there because then you won’t make any plays. You have to play with extension, and you have to be able to separate from blocks.”
(On not getting any sacks on the Rams but still creating a lot of pressure)
“They did a good job of getting the ball out fast. I think Matt (Matthew) Stafford operates at a very high level. There was probably one or two opportunities for them to actually sack the quarterback. In games like that, you have to do those ordinary rushes extraordinary because there is an opportunity to sack him and we’ve got to get there. But they did, and they applied pressure, rushed as one (unit) and did a good job.”
