The 2026 season is going to be an extremely special one for the Seattle Mariners organization, both on and off the field.
There is already plenty of anticipation for the Mariners in 2026, with it set up to be one of the most important campaigns in franchise history. This past season saw the team closer than ever to a first AL Pennant and World Series berth, and they’ve already taken the first big step in contending once again after signing Josh Naylor to a five-year, $92.5 million deal.
However, 2026 will also represent a special season for the Mariners as the 50th year of Major League Baseball in Seattle. In some respects it’s hard to believe it has already been that long since the team played their first regular season game on April 6 in 1977 versus the then-California Angels, but here we are.
To commemorate 50 years of Mariners baseball the team will wear a “50 Seasons” patch on their jerseys during the 2026 season, which will replace the primary logo on the sleeves. The logo will pay homage to the history of the team, including a ring of 116 lines for the 2001 team’s AL-record 116 wins, the original typeface from the team’s inaugural 1977 season and more.

Fans can get involved in helping name the Top 50 Greatest Mariners Players in franchise history, by voting now at Mariners.com/50 through February 20, 2026. The players will be revealed and honored in a special pregame ceremony on August 8 at T-Mobile Park.
As you would expect, the Mariners are extremely excited about celebrating 50 years of baseball in the Pacific Northwest with their loyal and passionate fanbase. In a released statement, President of Business Operations Kevin Martinez said:
“Celebrating 50 seasons of Mariners baseball is a tribute to the generations of fans, the community, and the Mariners players who have defined this franchise. Their passion, dedication, and belief have carried this franchise for the past half-century, and their passion fuels our excitement for not only our 50 Seasons celebration, but also the next 50 years of Mariners baseball.”
50 years of special moments for the Mariners and their fans

Certainly there have been plenty of special moments since 1977 in Seattle, including Ken Griffey Jr. (1997) and Ichiro Suzuki (2001) both being named AL MVP, as well as Cal Raliegh’s 60-home runs this past season. In addition there’s Randy Johnson (1995) and Félix Hernández (2010) both winning the AL Cy Young, with the latter also pitching the only perfect game in franchise history on Aug. 15, 2012.
These are just a few of the highlights in 50 years of Mariners baseball, with a variety of celebration weekend events either already announced or set to be unveiled at a later date. This includes a 50 Seasons Celebration Weekend during the home series against the Tampa Bay Rays between Aug 7-9, which will culminate with a 50 Seasons Celebration Night on Aug. 8.
On Wednesday, the team debuted their Mariners 50 Seasons Collection at both T-Mobile Park and its Downtown Seattle Store (4th & Stewart). The collection includes Mariners 50 Seasons caps, apparel, and baseballs, with more gear arriving throughout the holidays and during 2026.
