The Seahawks placed Jarran Reed and Dareke Young ahead of Sundays game with the Arizona Cardinals. The move to place Reed on IR came as a surprise, although Reed had been battling wrist and thumb injuries. Despite being listed as questionable, Reed participated in last Sunday’s 38-14 win over the Commanders.
Reed was on this week’s injury report with a wrist ailment, but participated in the team’s practices on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The 32-year-old Reed started two games this year, the season opener against the Niners and the Jaguars game on October 12th. He has recorded 17 tackles ( 5 solo) and 1.5 sacks and participated in all eight games.
Young joins Reed on IR
The team also announced that it had placed wide receiver Dareke Young on injured reserve. Young was inactive for the season opener, then participated in the Seahawks’ next six games before suffering a hip injury in the team’s win over Houston on October 20th. Both players must miss a minimum of four games before they can return.
Cody White and Quinton Bohanna added to 53 man roster
The placement of Reed and Young on IR opened up two roster spots on the 53-man roster. The spots were filled with wide receiver Cody White and defensive lineman Quinton Bohanna. White had been on the practice and had one reception against the Commanders last week. The one reception resulted in a 64-yard touchdown. White had a career-high 36-yard kickoff return and will bring depth to special teams and the wide receiver position. He has three kickoff returns for 88 yards this season.
Bohanna will be looking to play a part in the Seahawks’ defensive line rotation. This is the 26-year-old’s second season with the Seahawks and fifth in the NFL. Bohanna played 10 snaps in the season against the Niners.
GAME DAY ELEVATIONS
The Seahawks also announced game-day elevations of linebacker Patrick O’Connell and wide receiver Ricky White III from the practice squad. White has been on the practice squad all season and participated in his first game last week against the Commanders. White played seven snaps on offense and five on special teams. O’Connell will bring depth to the linebacker position, with Ernest Jones IV’s status uncertain. Jones was limited in practice this week due to a knee injury. Tyrice Knight and Drake Thomas would be the two starters at the inside linebacker positions, with O’Connell available to fill in when needed.
