The Seahawks placed Kenny McIntosh on injured reserve.

The Seahawks placed running back  Kenny McIntosh on the injured reserve list after he suffered a serious leg injury during Saturday’s practice.   According to multiple reports, McIntosh suffered a torn ACL.  The team signed rookie running back D.K. Kaufman to fill the open space on the 90-man roster that was available due to the McIntosh IR designation.

FAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS AND HOPE

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for McIntosh. Granted, there is never a good time for injuries. It was McIntosh’s third year with the team as the former Georgia Bulldog was looking to increase his time on the field in the upcoming season.  A knee injury limited McIntosh to just three games in his rookie season. Last year, his participation skyrocketed as he participated in all 17 games.  While the majority of his participation was during special team duty, McIntosh closed out the season on a positive note.  In the last five games of 2024, McIntosh gained 156 yards on 27 carries.  His best game  of 2024 was the season finale against the Rams, in which he rushed for  49 yards on seven carries

OPPORTUNITY FOR KAUFFMAN

Kauffman participated in the Seahawks rookie mini camp and now has an opportunity to earn a regular paycheck in the NFL.  After starting his collegiate career at Vanderbilt, Kaufman transferred to Auburn and spent three seasons there, before finishing his collegiate career at NC State. In his final year at NC State, Kaufman gained 469 yards on 15 kickoff returns.  The  31.3  average return placed him fourth in the nation in kickoff returns.
