UW made a big splash in recruiting Tuesday, earning a commitment from four-star RB Brian Bonner, one of the best running backs in the country. Bonner highlights a big week of recruiting for the Huskies, as they earned commitments from three players. Along with Bonner, Washington secured commitments from three-star LB Ezaya Tokio and three-star DT Ta’a Malu. Here is a look at what each of these three 2026 commits will bring to UW.
UW adds another RB as Brian Bonner commits
With RB Jonah Coleman in his senior season, the Huskies have been working hard to find their next great running back. Back on April 4th, UW earned a commitment from three-star running back Ansu Sanoe. On July 8th, they picked up another big RB commit in Brian Bonner. A four-star RB from Valencia, California, Bonner is a multi-sport athlete. He has played track and field as well as football, featuring a rare combination of speed and agility. Bonner is known for creating explosive plays in the running game and also possesses a unique ability to catch passes as a slot receiver. UW beat out UCLA, Penn State, and Nebraska for his commitment.
3-star DT and local product Ta’a Malu picks the Huskies
In addition to earning a huge commitment from RB Brian Bonner, the Huskies reeled in three-star DT Ta’a Malu. The Huskies are building their future D-line behind two local high school players, Derek Colman-Brusa and Ta’a Malu. Both of these players are happy to be playing college football close to home. Ta’a Malu expressed his excitement about committing to Washington, posting on X, “I’M STAYING HOME!!!” Derek Colman-Brusa made a similar post on X when he made his commitment to UW: “1000% COMMITTED HOME.” Nice to see two local guys excited to play for their hometown university.
3-star LB Ezaya Tokio chooses UW
Another intriguing pick up the Huskies made on the recruiting trail was earning their first linebacker commit of the 2026 class. LB Ezaya Tokio chose Washington over Cal, Arizona State, UCLA, and Colorado. He committed to UW on July 1st, about a month after he visited the university on June 6th. Ezaya Tokio will compete with current freshman linebackers Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and Jonathan Epperson for a linebacker position in 2026. The Huskies now have a strong group of young linebackers who will lead their defense into the future.
