Sounders Jackson Ragen to miss four to six weeks with Hamstring injury

The Seattle Sounders’ injury shuffle continues with the news that center back Jackson Ragen will be out for four to six weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered in the Sounders’ 1-0 win over FC Dallas.    Ragen suffered the injury just before halftime and was replaced by Kim Kee-Hee. “ He was clean on the ball and did a job of stepping up “, said head coach Brian Schmetzer. “ Jonathan Bell has spent some time at center back, and he is another player who can step in there if needed,”  added Schmetzer.

NEARLY AT FULL STRENGTH

The good news for the Sounders is that  Albert Rusnàk, Jordan Morris, and  Alex Roldan are in contention to participate in Saturday’s game against Nashville. All three players practice on Wednesday, which is generally the team’s hardest practice day, and came away with a clean bill of health.
”They’ll be involved in the game. Just depends on what the final lineup decisions are,” said Schmetzer. One player, Schmetzer said, is not quite ready is Ryan Kant.

“I’m gonna manage some expectations here, he hasn’t played a significant amount of games in the last couple of years. And so for him to get back up to where he was like he was at Rangers and all the highlights that we see, it’s gonna take him a bit but he’s working hard and integrating with his teammates as far as, you know, the social aspect, talking, interacting, and then the soccer’s gonna come because he’s a talented player”.

PEDRO De la Vega Affect

Regardless of who the starting eleven will be, Schmetzer is looking for expansive, free-flowing, and opportunistic soccer. For the team to accomplish those goals, each player has to win their individual battle, stay connected with teammates, and as a result, the team will control the game and execute the game plan.

“ It starts with individual performances, you have to get yourself right first, then you work in pairs, Christian,  Obed and Pedro or Alex Pedro, then your number 10 and the number nine, then you go to the back four as a bigger group or a back five is a bigger group, they attacking front four and pretty soon you have a team. If you have to start with yourself first, get yourself right, and then, you know, work with your teammates.”
