Why Seahawks Josh Jobe will be an underrated press cornerback in the upcoming NFL season

HOT TAKE FROM LUKE OF HAWAK MANIA

A quick look at Josh Jobe’s coverage stats for the 2024 NFL season indicates he is set to have a breakout year. Stats do not lie.

Coverage rating of +28.3: this indicated his effectiveness in coverage. Man coverage success rate: 66.9%. Catch rate allowed: 58.7%. Passer rating allowed at 88.9%. Jobe had a snap share last season at 70.2%:

WHAT DO THE STATS MEAN?

In the Seahawks coverage scheme, cornerbacks are playing primarily on the outside of formations and are tasked with covering wide receivers in man to man situation. Their roles require the ability to handle man coverage and battle head-to-head with any wide receivers. When targeted, their job is to prevent separation and perform on non-targeted coverage snaps during games.

Josh Jobe has great size, length and overall strength and plays physically at the line in man coverage, which can be beneficial for press coverage. He has great balance and great agility when he shadows other WRs, making him perfect for a great press cornerback.
