Here is how the Seahawks make the playoffs

Despite Sunday’s disappointing loss to the  Minnesota Vikings, the Seahawks have a decent chance to make the playoffs.  Had the Seahawks beat the Vikings, they would have controlled their playoff future.  Be that as it may, here is how the Seahawks can make the playoffs.

BEAT BEARS

First and foremost, the Seahawks must beat the 4-11 Chicago Bears on Thursday night at Soldier Field Stadium. A loss to the Bears would end the Seahawk’s chances of making the playoffs.   To keep hope alive, let’s say the Seahawks beat the Bears and improve their record to 8-8.

NEED HELP FROM THE CARDINALS

Step two in the hope scenario for the Seahawks to make the playoffs would be for the Arizona Cardinals to upset the LA Rams on Saturday night. If that happens, the regular season finale between the Seahawks and Rams would be for the NFC West. By losing to the Cardinals, the Rams would be a half-game behind the Seahawks due to the Division tiebreaker. That scenario favors the Seahawks because they would have a better   Division record  (  4-2)   after two wins over the Cardinals, splitting with the Niners and the Rams. The Rams Division record would be ( 3-3 ) after two wins over the Niners, two losses to the Cardinals, and a split with the Seahawks.

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE

Okay, let’s go to step three, and this is where things get a bit ugly for the Seahawks. If  the Rams beat the Cardinals, the Seahawks would need at least three of the capitalized teams to win for the season finale with the Rams to have any relevance.

MINNESOTA  vs. GREEN BAY , BUFFALO  vs. the NY Jets , SAN FRANCISCO  vs. Detroit  , WASHINGTON  vs. Atlanta , CINCINNATI vs. Denver, and CLEVELAND   vs. Miami.

The Seahawk’s playoff chances are alive and plausible. The disappointment is knowing that if the Seahawks had beaten the Vikings, they would control their playoff destiny.
