Seahawk’s first day of joint practices with Titans

The Seahawks held their first joint practice in twenty years with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans’ practice facility has three parallel full-length football fields. The two teams took a field and went through their warm-ups and unit drills. After the warm-up portion, each team’s defense was off, with the opposing team’s offense’ defense’ offensTitans’ed on field one, while the roles were reversed on field two. The third field saw minimal use in the scrimmage portion.

OFFENSE IS CLEAN

Last week, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said that joint practices between the two teams would provide a great opportunity to measure the team’s progress. According to Macdonald, the starters on offense and defense would be lined up against the Titans starters. The Geno Smith-led offense was smooth and surgical during the team scrimmage. Smith looked sharp in his reads and did not hesitate to zip the ball downfield. Wide receivers Jaxon Smith- Njigba, DK Metcalf, adn Jake Bobo, had good days running precise routes and hauling down Smith’s passes. Winston Easop Jr. turned Smith’s several clutch catches down the middle and sidelines.

DEFENSIVE LINE SHINES

With the two teams scrimmaging simultaneously, Macdonald chose to stay on field one, where his defense was tangling with the Titan’s offense. In the Seahawks’s defenTitan’sitans offense, MacSeahawk’sas impressed with the play of rookie Byron Murphy, who saw several doubles as he did in the Seahawks’ win over the Los Angeles ChargSeahawk’saddition to Murphy, Macdonald was impressed with Tyrice Knight, a surprise at linebacker due to the absence of Jerome Baker, who has yet to practice while recovering from an offseason knee injury.

“Yeah, we’re throwing a lot at him, on purpose,” said Macdonald when asked about Knight’s continued progress .” But just keep on coming along man, keep finding new stuff to screw up, and you’ll keep growing.”

Zach Charbonnet did not practice, and Macdonald revealed that  Tyler Lockett had gotten a little something and that he would be fine.
