With training camp less than a week away, the Seattle Seahawks made several roster moves.
The team placed seven players on the list of those who were physically unable to perform. Three potential starters were among the roster shuffle: correct tackle Abraham Lucas and linebackers Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson. The other four players were cornerback Lance Boykin, safety Jerrick Reed II, linebacker Drake Thomas, and nose tackle Cameron Young.
Lucas had offseason surgery after starting six games last season. Baker and Dodson are free-agent signees recovering from injuries and did not participate in off-season activities. Baker is recovering from wrist surgery and an ankle issue that saw him miss several games while playing for the Dolphins last year.
Dodson’s injury is a bit more secretive. The former Bill started ten regular season games and one playoff contest for the Bills last year.
The team also placed five players on the non-football injury list: guard Anthony Bradford, linebacker Easton Gibbs, cornerback D.J. James, Nehemiah Pritchett, and receiver Dee Williams.
Per NFL rules, any of the twelve players on either list can be activated anytime and participate in training camp. Once a team finalizes its 53-man roster ahead of the regular season, a player on either list must miss four games before he can be activated.
The Seahawks will open training camp on Wednesday, July 23rd, the first day veterans report to camp. The rookies reported to camp July 17th.
