NWSL International Window Ends Six Reign Players Will Return To Club

All six Seattle Reign FC players will return from international duty and begin preparation for their next game against Bay FC. Jordyn Huitema played two games for Canada, Jess Fishlock, Angharad James-Turner, and Lily Woodham played two games for Wales, Ji So-Yun played two games for Korea Republic, and Emeri Adames played two games for the US Under-20s. Now that the international break has completed all players will return to focus on the NWSL season and the first match against Bay FC in club history.

THRILLING SHE BELIEVES FINALE

Jordyn Huitema started for Canada  in  the  Championship finale of the  She Believes Cup tournament on April 9th. The match ended  2-2  at the end of regulation and went to a penalty shootout that saw the US win 5-4 in penalties. This was Canada’s second game that ended in penalties during this international break. Huitema will now return to Seattle Reign to continue the NWSL season.

TRIO REPRESENT WALES

Three Seattle Reign players left to play for Wales in their search to qualify for the 2025 Euros. Jess Fishlock, Angharad James-Turner, and Lily Woodham’s Welsh team had an emphatic start to their Euro qualification with two wins and 10 goals in two games. Their second game of qualification on April 9th, was against Kosovo and they sailed through, ending with 6-0 score line. Fishlock had two assists and James-Turner had one, both players are integral to their national and club teams. All three players will return at the end of the international break.

Ji So-Yun and South Korea faced the Philippines twice during the international break, they won their second match 2-1 on April 8th. Once again South Korea dominated in possession with 73.8%, and they outshot the Philippines 30-3. Both matches were international friendlies and Ji So-Yun will be returning to Seattle Reign FC at the end of the international break.

Emeri Adames and the US Under-20s played two games in Germany during this international break. The US tied with 0-0 Germany and then won 3-1 against Canada both games were played Verl Germany. The 18-year-old will continue her rookie season at the Reign, with the exciting speed she brings to the team.

All six players have experienced wins during this international break, though not all games ended in victories. The players’ focuses should now return to the Reign as they are preparing for their next two games against Bay FC the Chicago Red Stars. The Reign will have three more games in April, against Bay FC on April 14th, Chicago Red Stars on April 21st, and North Carolina Courage on April 27th.
