Pete Carroll, ” classic opportunity for us”

The Seattle  Seahawks got back to business  Thursday after an extra day off due to Monday’s prime-time game against the New York Giants. The mood around the Virginia Mason  Athletic is optimistically guarded. The Seahawks are coming off a 37-27 get-right win over the Carolina Panthers to put their record at 2-1 for the season. The caution is from the Seahawk’s woeful third-down conversion numbers, a consistent un the game, and conversely, an inability to stop the run.

“Extra day in here for us to help us get a little bit of recuperation, which is good. I know they’ve got a couple of (days) on their side too, but it’s good for our guys. We try to take full advantage of that. Coming back today is a crucial day for us to get back to action. It’s really a Wednesday for us and we’ll be battling on the practice field today. This is a classic opportunity for us to go against a team that’s got to have a win, against a team that’s got to have a win. We’ve got to have one too. Matching up in the setting for Monday night is always fun. We’re looking forward to that. We should be a little bit healthier this week, we’ll see. We have to make it through the week, but we do have some guys coming back to action.”

JAMAL ADAMS EFFECT

There was one unmistakable buzz surrounding the team and I would say the building. The news of Jamal Adams returning to full practice and preparing to make his season debut Monday Night in New York brought optimism and excitement. One possible scenario could see Riq Woolen Devon Witherspoon and Jamal Adams playing together.

 Witherspoon was the team’s 5th  overall pick in the 2023 draft  and has started the last two games after overcoming some minor hamstring issues. Woolen was named to the  2022 Pro Bowl roster last year.  After starting  the season opener against the Rams Woolen suffered chest injury in the Detroit game and was inactive for last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

“I am excited to see that. I’m excited to see if we can make it through the week and both guys get to play, and Jamal (Adams) getting out there too. We’ve had this image of what it could be and how we could play. I’m not setting expectations off the charts here; I want our guys to get out there and play and come back and help their team. That’s all I’m asking of them. It is exciting. I’m so happy for Jamal, he gets to get back to football and playing again. I did make note, Jordyn (Brooks) was sitting with Jamal as we were getting ready for walkthrough; those two guys really fed off each other throughout the time when we got back to camp here. Competed and challenged and went head-to-head to make it back. It’s a good moment that these guys get to play together this week.”
