With the biggest single sporting event looming on the horizon the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have dispensed with pleasantries and team obligations associated with representing their perspective conferences. Wednesday marked the first day of practice during the Superbowl week for both teams.
Thursday morning for the Chiefs and Thursday afternoon for the Eagles will be the last day of media availability for the teams. While speaking to the media is nothing new for the players and coaches it will be one less task out of the way in preparating for Sunday’s game. Both coaches have tried to keep the practice routine as close to normal as possible
It’s important in our world and coaches and players that you get better every day you are only as good as your next game; We are focusing on this on Sunday.”
One player the Chiefs will pay special attention will Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts
“ He is a good kid ; he has fit in with that team . He is a leader if not the main leader. His play has proven out to be very good. He will do nothing but get better that is how it works and that position. “
As for the distractions Reid has tried to keep players on a normal schedule
“Distractions take you out of your normal routines so you try to keep it close to that. You have media obligations, and we try to keep as normal as possible.”
Reid scouter part Eagles head coach Nick
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni is looking to his veteran players to be leaders in staying focused for the big game.
“Our guys are locked in. We understand that there are a lot of distractions and we have to do our best to stay focused in the midst of the madness our guys understand that, and the message has been the same this week.”
STOPPING TRAVIS KELCIE WILL BE A TEAM EFFORT
In addition to stopping the all-world Patrick Mahomes the Eagles will need to find a way to stop or at the very least neutralize Travis Kelce
“You try to take away the good things he does . You must be aware where he is all the time. He does so many good things. . It is not just a one-man job. It will take all eleven players .”
After Thursday’s practices, there will be no media availability until post-game on Sunday
