All that had been missing from Seahawks quarter back Geno Smith resume this season was a signature game winning drive. Last week against the Raiders Smith and the Seahawks offense went three and out in overtime after the Seahawks defense stopped the Raiders offense. The Raiders scored on the next offensive play in OT to win the game.
DEFINING MOMENT
On Sunday Smith and the offense were given another shot of redemption. The Rams grabbed a 23 -20 the lead when running back Cam Akers rambled through the belly of the Seahawks defense.
With 2:56 left in the game and the ball at the Seahawk 25-yard line Smith went 6-10 on the drive and recorded his first game winning drive since 2014. While not perfect Smith was surgical with his pinpoint passing completing six of ten pass attempts.
With starting to run back Kenneth Walker III sidelined with a jammed ankle early int the game , Travis Homer a pregame scratch and Dee Jay Dallas hampered with an ankle injury the fortunes of the Seahawks offense were on Smith ‘s arm and he did not disappoint when the final whistle blew. Smith finished the game with fantasy football owners dream, completing 28 of 39 passes for 376 yards three touchdowns and one interception by former Seahawks Bobby Wagner.
REVENGE GAME
Speaking of Wagner, he almost stopped the Seahawks all on his own. Wagner finished the day with seven tackles five of which were sole, two were sacks, and the interception. The game was always going to emotional for Wagner , the Seahawks player sand coaches. When you line up against a former teammate who one of the best players to ever play his position emotions are sure to run high.
RESILIENCY
This win over the Rams was not only a signature win for Smith but a statement making victory for the team. The word to describe the win would be resiliency. During the week the team was hit with a flu bug that saw a high number of players miss practice on Thursday. Head coach Pete Carroll praised Dallas for playing through his ankle injury.
“I was really praising DeeJay Dallas for fighting through being banged up and finishing for us,” Carroll said.
Tony Jones was a waiver pick in October chipped in valuable plays at running back after an . Jones suffered a helmet to helmet in the third quarter and was evaluated for a concussion. He returned and finished the day with seven carries for 14 yards . On defense the Seahawks finished with Teez Tabor at safety after injuries to Josh Jones and Ryan Neal.

RAMSEY VS METCALF
The ongoing battle between DK Metcalf and Rams corner back Jalen Ramsey went to Metcalf. In addition to catching the game winning TD Metcalf finished the day with eight receptions for 127 yards and one touchdown. In fairness Metcalf had the contribution of Tyler Lockett who finished the day with nine receptions and 128 receiving yards and one touchdown. Lockett’s intricate route running draw double teams which opened up space for Metcalf to have his way with Ramsey.
