Seahawks L.J Collier, Tre Brown, and Travis Homer return to practice

The Seahawks activated L.J Collier to the roster just three weeks after returning to practice.  The moves mean’s Collier will be part of the 53-man roster moving forward. Also returning to practice on Wednesday were cornerback Tre Brown and running back Travis Homer.

Brown was on the physically unable to perform (PUP)list before training Camp after suffering a knee injury that shortened his rookie season.   Brown was the designated starter at left cornerback before he suffered the knee injury. Defensive captain  Quandre Diggs believes Brown can help the team once he is up and running.

With his rehab complete head coach Pete Carroll is hoping Brown can pick up where he left off before his injury.

“I don’t know, I’ve watched him workout in his rehab work, and he has been flying around. He’s ready to go, and he’s been chomping at it for a few weeks now, but they really wanted to make sure. We haven’t seen him on the field yet, he was in walkthrough today. I’m so excited to see him back out here. Remember, when he left, he was playing darn good football. He had just started to make his impression about how he was really consistent, he was tough, and competitive on the ball. He was really consistent with the parts that I liked about him for a young guy. He kept showing it in practice, very much like Michael Jackson has done.

Michael (Jackson) has practiced beautifully, played great in the preseason, and just kept doing things right. That’s what Tre (Brown) was doing too and then he got hurt suddenly. In my mind, I’m picking up where we left off, away we go, let him start battling, and see where he fits in with the competition. He will make us better for sure. I just hope that he can stay healthy, stay out there, and it works out for him.”

LOCK  RUNNING  FOR COLLIER

For Collier, a 2019 1st-round draft (29th )  the move to the 53-man roster is the last chance for a player who started all 16 games in 2020 was sporadic in 2021  due in part to COVID-19 and was placed on the injured reserve list in August due to an elbow injury.   Because he was placed on IR in August the Hawks had to either activate him or release him according to NFL guidelines.

Homer missed the last four games due to a rib injury. A third-down specialist Homer placed in the first three games of the season and recorded 18 rushing yards on four carriers and 33 receiving yards on four receptions. Neither Homer nor Brown will count towards the team’s 53-man roster as they both are designated as practice squad players.

OTHER ROSTER MOVES

On Tuesday the Seahawks also made two other roster moves. Receiver Kevin Kassis and linebacker Alexander Johnson were added to the practice squad filling in the two vacated positions after the release of linebacker Christian Jones and running back Godwin Igwebuike.
